Zampell Limited is the UK arm of the family-owned Zampell group, founded in the United States in 1966. Built on a foundation of safety, commitment to employees, customer focus and quality craftsmanship, the group has grown organically and by acquiring like-minded businesses with strong reputations. Today we operate internationally with manufacturing and refractory operations across the UK, Europe and the USA.
Who We Are
Based in the centre of the UK, Zampell Limited provides refractory installation and engineering services to customers across multiple industries. Since 1 October 2018, we have incorporated CobbLloyd Refractories, strengthening our installation capability and adding experienced teams and management to better serve the marketplace. Together with our affiliate Vulcan Refractories, the group offers full control of production, supply and installation for boiler tile systems, making us well-placed to support the energy-from-waste sector.

Our history
Cobb Refractories was established in Northern Ireland in 1965 and developed a reputation for dense refractory installations in power generation and industrial chimney construction. The business expanded to mainland UK in 1999 and in 2011 merged with Lloyd Refractory Insulation Systems to form CobbLloyd Refractories Limited. The company’s long history of high-quality workmanship and strong safety performance is now part of Zampell Limited’s heritage.

Group capabilities and partnerships
Working alongside Vulcan Refractories, our sister company, Zampell can provide bespoke and confidential manufacture of refractory products. Vulcan also produces ceramic infra-red and quartz heaters and has developed patented formulations such as ZEROX for advanced tile performance. This partnership gives our clients access to both stocked standard products and fully bespoke systems or one-off tile replacements.
People, Skills and Training.
Our workforce and site supervisors are central to our success. Management and supervision typically have a minimum of 25 years’ experience in refractory industries, and we invest continuously in skills development to prepare the next generation of supervisors and contract managers. Our training programmes focus on safe working practices, technical competence and career progression for employees.
